ABOUT IRC:
The IRC General Assembly is composed of representative students from each hall, based on population. The ratio is 1 rep for 100 students, which leaves most halls with 2 representatives. The exceptions are Onondaga with 3 reps and Putnam, Wayne (Dante House) and Seneca (Writer’s House) with 1 reps. These elected hall council officers are responsible for the sharing of information between their halls and IRC, requesting funding for their hall and voting on other halls’ requests, and serving on one of the IRC committees. They also have the opportunity to represent Geneseo at regional and national conferences. The General Assembly meets weekly on Mondays at 8:00 PM in the College Union Hunt Room.

IRC is led by a 10 member Executive Board. Together, these students work on formulating the IRC's campus wide programs and guide the IRC in its efforts to represent students. Additionally, the board keeps in contact with similar organizations across the nation as a member of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). NACURH is the largest student-run organization in the world and is broken into 8 different regions. Geneseo falls into the North Eastern Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (NEACURH).

If you are interested in getting involved in the IRC or your Residence Hall Council, talk to your RD, RAs, or any of the Inter-Residence Council board. One easy way to take advantage of the opportunities IRC offers is to attend our Training Sessions. The IRC offers a unique training program at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semester for students. These two-day sessions will offer you the opportunity to learn about residence councils, the IRC, and what resources are available to you on campus.
