About Us

The
IRC General Assembly is typically composed of two representatives from each
of Geneseo's 14 residence halls and one apartment style community.
These representatives attended weekly meetings and represent Geneseo at
regional and national conferences, put on programs, provide funding, and
conduct student advocacy efforts on behalf of Geneseo's on-campus
population. Representatives have acted as the student voice in the
residence halls since 1968.
The
IRC also has an Executive Board composed of eight (8) students. Together,
these students work on formulating the IRC's campus wide programs and guide
the IRC in its efforts to represent students. Additionally, the board keeps
in contact with similar organizations across the nation as a member of the National Association of College and University
Residence Halls (NACURH). NACURH is the largest student-run
organization in the world and is broken into 8 different regions. Geneseo
falls into the North Eastern
Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (NEACURH).
If
you are interested in getting involved in the IRC or your Residence Hall
Council, talk to your RD, RAs, or any of the Inter-Residence Council board.
One easy way to take advantage of the opportunities IRC offers is to attend
our Training Sessions. The IRC offers a unique training program at the
beginning of the Fall and Spring semester for students. These two-day
sessions will offer you the opportunity to learn about residence councils,
the IRC, and what resources are available to you on campus. If you are
interested in being a hard-working and dedicated student leader in the
halls, simply e-mail a member of the IRC below.
